Investigation of Empatic Tendencies of Students Praticipating in the Educational Game for the Visually Impaired

The aim of this research is to examine the empathic tendencies of 9-15 years old students participating in the visually impaired educational game. A total of 80 students, 48 girls and 32 boys, aged betweem 9 and 15, studying in a private education institution, participated in the researcher. “Personal Information Form” created by the researcher and “Empathic Tendency Scale” developed by Şehide KILINÇ (2021) were used as data collection tools. The Cronbach alpha value calculated for the overall scale is 0.88. Statistical analysis of the data was done in a computer environment. The significance level of p<0.05 was taken into account in the study. As a result of the study, the pretest –posttest control group was designed in a quasi-experimental model.Obtained data were analyzed using dependent group t test and independent groups t test. The normality of the data was examined by Kurtosis and Skewness. P<0,05 significance level was taken into account. In descriptive statistics, aritmethic means and Standard deviation were used for dicontinous data and central tendency and distribution measures were used for continuous data. 60% of the individuals participating in the study were women and 40% were men. It was X̄±Std.S.=1,50±0,506 for the gender variable of the control group, There was also no significant difference between the pre-test (p=0.776) and post-test (p=0.575) averages of the experimental group (p>0.05). When the mean scores of the experimental and control groups were examined, there was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test averages of the control group (p=0.132). A significant difference was found in favor of the final test when looking at the average pre-test post-test of the experimental group (p<0,05). There was no significant differance between the pre-test (p=0,776) and post-test (p=0,575) mean scores of the experimental group (p>0,05). There was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test mean scores of the control group (p=0,132). Considering the pretest-posttest mean of the experimental group, a significant difference was found in favor of the posttest (p<0,05). As a result of this study, it was found that there was a significant difference in the empathic tendencies of the individuals participating in the visually impaired educational game after the preliminary test and the final test of the experimental group participating in the game, and the study contributed to the empathic tendency.
