OKUL SPOR SALONLARININ ENGELLİ ÖĞRENCİLER AÇISINDAN ERİŞİLEBİLİRLİK DURUMLARININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate the accessibility of school gyms affiliated to Malatya Yesilyurt National Education Directorate for students with disabilities. Sports halls of the schools, which are evaluated as the accessibility of school gyms should be appropriate for disabled students, have been examined for this purpose. The sample of the research was created by sports halls in the central Yesilyurt district of Malatya. In this context, the gymnasium of 16 schools affiliated to Malatya Yeshilyurt district National Education Directorate was evaluated. Necessary permits were obtained in the Directorate of National Education of Yesilyurt for more comprehensive research. Accessibility and accessibility standards of the school gyms examined were evaluated according to the data of the Ministry of Family and Social Services.  An interview form consisting of 8 predetermined questions was prepared for the school administrators related to the research. Within this scope, face-to-face meetings were held with school administrators. The responses of school administrators were categorized and evaluated statistically. In addition, accessibility and accessibility of all gyms were evaluated by the researcher through observation. While the observation was made by the researcher, information was also received from the physical education teachers of the related schools. The views of the school administrators, the observations of the researcher and the views of the physical education teachers were evaluated by combining. In the 13th of the school gyms, which are evaluated in line with the answers given, although ramps are available for disabled students in 3 schools, there are no ramps for disabled students in the gym. There are no accessible roads for visually impaired students in all school gyms. In addition, 16 schools do not have toilets for disabled students in the gym. Although dressing rooms are available, only 5 schools' dressing rooms meet the standards in terms of accessibility. As a result, it has been determined that school gyms that are evaluated in Malatya Yeshilyurt district have insufficient accessibility for disabled students.
