SUPER LEAGUE SITTING VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS' SOCIAL EXAMINING APPEARANCE CONCERNS
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to examine the social appearance concerns of sitting volleyball athletes. A total of 66 athletes, 55 boys and 11 girls, in the 2021-2022 season Sitting Volleyball Super League within the Turkish Physically Disabled Sports Federation participated in the research. Social appearance scale was used to collect data in the study. The data was obtained by sending it to the athletes via Google forms. Data analysis was done using SPSS 24.0 program. According to the research findings, no significant differences were detected in social appearance concerns according to gender, age group, and amputation status (p>0.05). Significant differences were detected according to amputation level and disability (p<0.05). According to the results of the research, it was concluded that athletes with below-knee amputations and athletes with congenital disabilities have more social appearance anxiety. In this context, it is important to carry out the necessary studies to reduce the social appearance concerns of athletes in this group.
