Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of sports intervention based on intergenerational programs on the happiness and resilience of high school students in Maragheh city. The research design is quasi-experimental and pre-test-post-test with a control group. The statistical population of this study included all female high school students studying in the academic year 2021-2022 in Maragheh city. 30 students were selected by multi-stage cluster random sampling method 15 people in the experimental group and 15 people in the control group were randomly selected. A sports intervention program based on intergenerational programs for the experimental group in the experimental group for eight weeks, two sessions per week (for two hours), 60 minutes of exercise, and 60 minutes of interaction, was performed and the control group did not receive any intervention. In the end, the two groups completed the questionnaires as a post-test.  Data collection tools included the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (1995), the Connor and Davidson Resilience Questionnaire (2003), and the interventional sports intervention method. ANCOVA analysis of covariance and SPSS25 software was used to analyze the data of the present study. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group and also a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in students' happiness and resilience (p˂0.05). Performing sports interventions had the greatest effect on the happiness variable (strong effect size) and less on the resilience variable (moderate effect size).
