Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the positive psychological capital perceptions of physical education teachers. The research is an applied study in the form of a descriptive survey model. The population of the research consists of physical education teachers in Malatya, Elazığ and Adıyaman provinces in the 2021-2022 academic year, while the sample group consists of 270 physical education teachers in Malatya, Elazığ and Adıyaman provinces selected by random sampling. Psychological Capital Scale was used in the research. The scale was developed by Luthans, Avolio, Avey and Norman (2007) and adapted into Turkish by Çetin and Basım (2012). The scale consists of 4 sub-dimensions. These dimensions consisted of optimism, resilience, hope and self-efficacy sub-dimensions, and each sub-dimension consisted of 6 items. The Cronbach's alpha safety coefficient of the scale was calculated as .77 for the optimism sub-dimension, .80 for the resilience sub-dimension, .82 for the hope sub-dimension and .83 for the self-efficacy sub-dimension, and it was calculated as .82 for the whole scale. The scale was prepared in a 6-point likert type. In the study, the variables of gender, age and marital status were not the factors that would cause a significant difference in the positive psychological capital perceptions of physical education teachers (p>.05), while in the professional year variable only the professional years were significant between 1-5 years and 16-20 years in the psychological resilience sub-dimension. difference was found (p<.05), it was concluded that there was no significant difference in other sub-dimensions (p>.05).
